Ai Wei Wei

"...Je crois toujours en la vie, et à l'effort que vous faites. Il ya deux types d'efforts, la plupart des gens sont toujours en train d’essayer de rattraper le moment pour une raison précise. Pour moi c’est un peu différent. J'ai fait des efforts sur ce qui me semblait inutile, je veux dire pas pour une utilisation immédiate. Plus tard cela vous surprend mais il y a un retour des choses. La vie est toujours une surprise. Vous n'avez pas à agir vraiment selon le courant dominant. Parfois cela prend du temps, mais vouloir éduquer les gens pas à pas de façon dirigée pour les conduire au succès ne marche pas. En tous cas ce n’est pas ce qui a fonctionné avec moi. L’irrationalité a aussi sa part de poésie".

nasta'liq ή farsi, η περσική

Η γραφή ναστάλικ είναι μια σύνθεση από τις γραφές naskh και ta'liq. Γεννήθηκε στο τέλος του 14ου αιώνα στο Ιράν και γρήγορα εξαπλώθηκε ως την Τουρκία μέχρι τον 20ο αιώνα, στο Πακιστάν, τo Τατζικιστάν, τo Αφγανιστάν, τη Βόρειο Ινδία καθώς και σε άλλες αραβόφωνες χώρες. Το αλφάβητό της αποτελείται από τα γνωστά 28 γράμματα του αραβικού αλφαβήτου συν τέσσερα επιπλέον γράμματα-φθόγγους της περσικής γλώσσας. Γύρω στο 1400 ο Μιρ Αλ Ταμπρίζι στυλιζάρισε και κωδικοποίησε τη φόρμα τους.
Στη ναστάλικ γράφτηκε η ποίηση του Ομάρ Χαγιάμ και του Σαμς Αλ Ντιν Μοχάμαντ Χάφεζ, και οι στίχοι τους έγιναν οι αγαπημένοι στίχοι των καλλιγράφων για τις ατέλειωτες ασκήσεις τους.

Ένα από τα πολύ ενδιαφέροντα παιχνίδια άσκησης των καλλιγράφων της γραφής αυτής ήταν το siah mashq. Άρχισε σαν άσκηση για να "ζεστάνει" το χέρι του καλλιγράφου, ο οποίος έγραφε ξανά και ξανά το ένα γράμμα δίπλα στο άλλο, για να πετύχει το σωστό σχήμα και μετά επαναλάμβανε το ίδιο προς άλλη κατεύθυνση μέχρι το χαρτί να μαυρίσει εντελώς.
Άσκηση και οικονομία. Ήδη όμως από τον 17ο αιώνα, άρχισε το στύλ αυτό να αρέσει και σαν ύφος από μόνο του, ένα είδος πρόωρης αφαιρετικής τέχνης.


Πρίν λίγες μέρες σε ένα τοίχο στο Βόλο φωτογράφησα ένα αντίστοιχο siah mashk, ζωντανή απόδειξη οτι οι προθέσεις του ισχύουν και λειτουργούν μέχρι σήμερα.

ο Cai Guo-Qiang στη Doha

Στο Μάτχαφ, στο Μουσείο, ο Cai Guo-Qiang θα πετάξει πυροτεχήματα, θα σχεδιάσει με μπαρουτόσκονη, θα "εγκαταστήσει" καράβια, θα μεταφέρι μια γκαμήλα με γεράκια και όλα αυτά θα γίνουν στο Μάτχαφ και γύρω από αυτό, δηλαδή στο Αραβικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης στη Ντόχα.

The Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art opened a year ago to shed a long-awaited spotlight on Arab contemporary creation. Piloted by Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the daughter of Doha's emir, the institution has now given its first-ever solo show to Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang, from whom the museum has commissioned 17 new works to augment its mini-retrospective.

A daring choice? "What's great about this show is that we really get a fresh perspective from one point of view, of the Arab world through Cai's eyes — historically, but also as an imagined journey," said Mathaf director Wassan al Khudhairi during a tour of the exhibition on Wednesday.

The strength of the exhibition, titled "Saraab" after the Arab word for "mirage," resides in Cai decision to stay clear of declarations and instead forge links — both literal and atmospheric — between Doha and his hometown of Quanzhou. Between the artist’s spectrally spectacular explosions in the desert, installations of boats rocking on the waves of a foggy sea, and cast of falcons attacking — or perhaps gently carrying — a camel, the overall impression and tone of the exhibition is far more delicate than the sum of its most striking parts.
